Threaded into Porcelain
By Sukanjana Kanjanabat

"Threaded into Porcelain" is a convergence between ceramics and textiles, inspired by the artist's personal memories and the craftsmanship she inherited from her mother, who gave up her craft as a seamstress after giving birth. Sukanjana applies sewing techniques to the art of ceramics, investigating the properties of materials, durability, and the connection between craft and transformation in the creative process. She transforms delicate threads into ingrained marks on the hard ceramic surface. Such a transformation serves as a record of process, memory, and time. Her work, therefore, is a quiet dialogue between past and present, gentleness and strength, existence and non-existence.
